Our
Vision
Procedures
At Bodin we firmly believe that a successful outcome
begins with a well-conceived plan. It is important to emphasize
however that this process can be accelerated to 24 hours or less
if the safety of the child is in question. Many of the steps outlined
below can be performed after the safety of the adolescent is assured.
Our normal process includes:
Initial meeting
with the parents without the child.
At the initial meeting we cover the following topics.
(a) Review of schools transcripts.
(b) Review of available testing data
(c) A list of all professionals with whom we may need to speak.
(d) Discuss the current situation
(e) Discuss parent goals for the child
(f) Discussions with involved professionals and other parties.
(i) We seek out evaluations from concerned parties such as therapists,
teachers and friends.
(g) Psychological Testing, if necessary- We can perform a
complete battery
of tests to help assess the cognitive, academic and emotional
functioning of your child.
(h) Formulation of a plan
Once we have met with the child and the family, reviewed transcripts
and talked to all concerned parties, we can formulate a plan. This
may include local
alternative schools, specific therapeutic options, residential
programs or a combination. Our extensive experience and knowledge
of available options allows us to tailor a solution to the specific
needs of the child
(i) Execution of the plan
From the available options, the family is armed, educated and able
to make informed decisions that will be in the best interests of
the child. The family can interview among the recommendations and
choose the one that best meets their needs at each step in the plan.
(j) Follow up and plan adjustment as necessary.
An agreed upon plan is not a static event. Our consultants will
continue to stay involved in the progress of the child. If after
the initial step assessments and evaluations reveal new conditions
we will coordinate with the family and adjust to these changed circumstances.
